I draw and paint in oils and mixed media, sometimes incorporating 3-D elements or found objects. I often start working with ink, pencils, or acrylics, and usually end up in oil sticks, my favorite. I like the spontaneity and directness of painting with my hands as well as brushes.

I’m interested in how we perceive things, relate to one another, and find ways to walk our talk. Recent work reflects my concerns about global warming and how to thrive without trashing one another or the natural world.

I’ve taught at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts since 1999, and at Tufts University since 2004. I have led drawing and collage workshops and retreats for individuals and organizations, worked in illustration and graphic design, and was the design partner of an intimate apparel company, Kata-Reid, earlier in my career.

My work has been shown in juried exhibitions at galleries, art associations, the Danforth Art Museum and other venues in the region, including, most recently:

Kata Hull - Thin Ice, Solo exhibition, Rankin Gallery at Catamount Arts, 2022

Witness, Bromfield Gallery, Boston, MA 2022
